Wonder Woman is finally going to make her cinematic debut in Batman v Superman. Bringing her to the big screen has been a long and fraught process. She is a beloved character with a tricky backstory -- not just in the comics, but real life too. While Superman and Batman drew from familiar genres of sci-fi and detective tales, Wonder Woman was created by a psychologist who tapped into long forgotten utopian feminist fiction, adding a few twists of his own.
